Aboubakar Fofana

DARA Artisans is an online retailer that offers globally sourced handmade goods. I found them through an Apartment Therapy post about the new wave of responsibly sourced home goods from small and local makers. Aboubakar Fofana's work caught my eye especially. He's a master textile designer and indigo dyer from Mali. I love the natural oatmeals and blues of his throws and bed covers. Each piece is definitely an investment, but they are all handmade by the man himself, and it can take several weeks to complete a single item using Mali's "nearly lost tradition of natural indigo and vegetable dyeing."
