Now & not so long ago

Hey there!

A lot has happened since we went dark to finalize everything for our wedding.

First, the wedding itself was an amazing day. It was filled with happiness, laughs, nerves, loved ones, and lots of smiles. It absolutely flew by as all of my married friends said it would, but we had several moments to take it all in. Specifically, during cocktail hour when our photographers pulled us aside at sunset to go into the gardens alone and during dinner from our sweetheart table.

We're still finishing up thank yous and looking forward to seeing our pictures in a couple of months. But we're done! We did it! We're so happy to have pulled off this huge event and to be married.

Second, we went to Mexico City on our mini-moon the following Monday. We had a great three days there, eating absolutely everything including a meal at Pujol and a sampling from the Mercado de la Merced.

On Thursday, Kev became very ill with food poisoning. We cancelled our plans to go on to Merida and ended up having to see a doctor before our flight back home on Saturday. He's mostly better now, but we're hesitant to say 100% because gastro issues can really linger for some time before you feel completely back to normal.

Third, we added a second dog to the family! Kev's parents took care of Huxley while we were away and they met a neighbor's dog while out one day. This little dog, a sweet terrier mix, came to have play dates in their backyard several times.

However, he seemed to not be getting proper care, as his hair was matted and dirty, and he was very malnourished. Long story short, that neighbor has given him to us, and Fitzgerald is now a part of the family.

Those are the BIG things that have marked these past few weeks, and here are a few little ones.
  • The June List is on its way. I actually made this list in May and have been chipping away at it; I just haven't had the chance to share here
  • I'm itching to get back to pottery making. I've already received three Etsy orders in the month of June and I'm feeling so encouraged
  • Last night was one of my annual(ish) meet ups with friends from my elementary school class. It's so special to me to be able to see these people every so often. I don't keep in touch with most of them on a regular basis, but when we get together it's always so natural, like no time has passed. I really cherish this type of relationship. You don't come by low maintenance friendships easily. Kev joined this time and was introduced to the group as its first spouse. Amazingly, two fiances were also present. We're growing up!
  • I'm on my way home now and will be stopping by the grocery store to pick up ingredients for this NYT Cooking recipe
Happy weekend!
