The power in naming

ahmetart@deviantart
I sense the influential nature in the act of naming. When language developed, and as mankind understood his smallness in the world, naming must have been an act of claiming - one of ownership or comprehension - that made him feel safer, increasingly oriented in his wide strange environs.

Same goes for most designations. Does the minute's difference in being 20 years old and 21 years old make the body more suited to process alcohol? What does it mean to call one thing black and another white? Can the little word loss contain in its four letters all the immense fear and wild sadness that comes with what it stands for?

Can I be brave if I say I am?
